We recommend an oil change service every 3,000-5,000 miles for most cars, although certain types of higher-quality synthetic oil may last longer. An oil change is one of the most important aspects of vehicle maintenance, because without it, the oil in your car can become dirty and cause serious damage to the engine. People can do this themselves, but when you bring it to us, you get so much more, we:
** Check levels and condition of the oil, which gives us an idea of how well you are maintaining the vehicle.
** We lift the car up to drain the oil. This also gives us a better look of the undercarriage for safety concerns.
** We replace the old oil filter and place a new one on. An oil filter removes impurities, such as dirt and flecks of metal, from the oil before it goes into the engine, similar to the kidneys in the human body. Impurities in the engine can damage it and the clean filter helps to alleviate that damage.
** After the filter replacement, we then refill the engine with synthetic oil. Synthetic lasts longer, is a better quality and will help to maintain the integrity of the vehicle.
** During the oil change, our service technician will do a general safety inspection of the vehicle. He will check wear and tear items - belts, hoses, brakes, leaks, etc. He will top off the fluids in your vehicle that he sees as low as well as checking your tires and adding air if necessary (as a courtesy).
