FACTORY SCHEDULED
At Silva Family Automotive, we understand that regular maintenance is an essential service to a reliable vehicle. When you bring your car in for the essential 30/60/90k services, our skilled technicians conduct a thorough inspection, meticulously searching for any signs of wear or potential issues that could compromise your driving experience. This routine maintenance is not just a checklist; it's a comprehensive care package designed to extend the life of your vehicle.
Every vehicle manufacturer provides a meticulously crafted list of scheduled maintenance and inspections designed to ensure your vehicle not only endures the test of time but also operates at peak performance. Some list the schedules in their car manual, some have it online. Any mechanic can tell you what should be done, which is why it's important to find one that you can trust. Does your mechanic drive a good, well maintained car? Is their shop and work area clean? Do they keep and maintain sufficient tools? These may seem like weird things to think about, but if your mechanic is taking care of their own items, they will definitely take care of you and your car! They take pride in their work and space, so they will take pride in the work they provide you.
These guidelines are more than mere suggestions; they are essential checkpoints that range from basic upkeep tasks, such as oil changes and tire rotations, to detailed examinations of critical components like fluids, filters, and spark plugs. By adhering to these manufacturer-recommended intervals, typically set at every 30,000, 60,000, and 90,000 miles, you can safeguard your vehicle against the slow decay that often goes unnoticed until it escalates into major, costly repairs.
During the 30,000-mile service, we prioritize your safety and the performance of your car. Our technicians start by changing the oil and filter, ensuring your engine runs as smoothly as possible. They delve into the vehicle's vital fluids—checking, replenishing, and replacing oil, brake fluid, coolant, and transmission fluid as necessary, each step meticulously aimed at safeguarding your car's health. Next, we turn our attention to the air filters and spark plugs, replacing them to ensure optimal engine performance. The timing belt, a critical component of your engine's operation, is thoroughly inspected, with any necessary repairs or replacements made to prevent unexpected breakdowns. Your braking system is also examined, guaranteeing that you can stop safely and effectively whenever needed.
Engaging in factory scheduled maintenance is akin to giving your car a thorough health checkup. During these visits, skilled technicians can identify and rectify minor issues before they evolve into substantial problems, ultimately saving you both time and money. This proactive approach not only extends the lifespan of your vehicle but also enhances its overall performance and fuel efficiency.
Don't fall for products that claim to go longer between essential services. Those claims can damage your car, maybe not immediately, but after about 2 years your car will start to deteriorate. Like junk food, our bodies don't see the immediate effect, but years down the line our body shows it.
This is an excerpt from VW forum. Just a heads up, it isn't the first time we heard OR witnessed it in person! We know someone that had a Jeep and after 70k miles needed a new engine because they were going 8k miles with "10k mile oil" and the damage was prevelant. Besides this excerpt, on our social media pages (Facebook and Instagram) we also have a video that shows this as well.
"I work for an independent repair facility and we had an 04 Touareg
in with an intermittent oil light concern. We verified low oil pressure
and diagnosed a defective/clogged oil pump or pick up. Here is what
we found -..."

The oil pans have approximately 1/2 inch of sludge in them and the pick up is mostly clogged. The customer admitted to only doing oil changes every 10k (which i believe is a factory interval as well). To avoid this happening to yours please change your oil on a 5k interval - even if you use fully synthetic. *Keep in mind this job requires the removal of the engine which will run you upwards of $2000.00 which could be put towards quite a few oil changes
